This weekend is a great time to discover the range of shopping and entertainment available in Stockport’s Market Place.
Some of the highlights include:
Foodie Friday on 30th September, 6pm-9pm: Head down to Stockport Market Place for a feast of food, drink and entertainment at the popular Foodie Friday. Fun for all the family in the beautiful historic heart of the town centre
Family Fun Day on Saturday 1st October, 11am-3pm: Free fun and games for all the family in the Market Place. Come and enjoy the inflatable helter skelter, bouncy castle, traditional stalls with games like hoopla and hook-a-duck as well as face painting in the Market Hall and a host of other games for all ages.
Book and Record Fair on Sunday 2nd October, 10am-4pm: Explore the range of vinyl, memorabilia, books and collectables on offer at the fascinating Book and Record Fair in Stockport Market Hall between 10am and 4pm.
As well as these special events, there’s a great range of regular stalls (open Friday and Saturday) selling everything from beer to buttons and a unique range of vintage and collectable items.
Visitors can also explore Stockport’s past at Stockport Museum which houses a wide range of weird and wonderful objects and works of art that tell the story of the town.
Staircase House offers the chance to take a trip through time from 1460 to 1940 and see how our ancestors lived.
Councillor Kate Butler, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration, said: “The Market Place has a fun and friendly atmosphere, where people can have a unique shopping experience. Whether you’re after local history, food, gifts or somewhere to sit down for a cup of tea between shops, the Market Place has it all.”
