Beacon Counselling is once again the chosen charity for the Stockport Beer and Cider Festival which takes place next month. Thanks to sponsorship from Vernon Building Society, the festival hopes to raise vital funds to support Beacon Counselling’s work across Stockport.
The annual, three day event is one of the largest beer festivals in the North of England and attracts visitors from all over the region keen to enjoy the choice of beers, ciders and perries, as well as the tempting food stalls and live entertainment. A popular date in the Stopfordian calendar, it is a positive environment to raise awareness of Beacon’s vital work in the local community.
Ian Keeling, Head of Sales & Marketing for Vernon Building Society, explains why the company’s support of Beacon Counselling remains so important: “Cuts in central funding have significantly affected local services to the point where some of Stockport’s most vulnerable depend on the selfless work of local charity and community groups. We are delighted to have sponsored Beacon Counselling over the years in their objective to improve the lives of adults, young people, and children who experience mental and emotional distress.”
Beacon Counselling aims to improve the lives of those suffering with emotional distress. The charity provides its services from 22 venues across Stockport including two counselling centres, schools, GP surgeries and community centres. Through one-to-one counselling, group programmes and community projects, Beacon Counselling offers a personalised approach to individuals who may be struggling with anything from anxiety, depression or stress to a trauma, bereavement or domestic abuse.
